This SV5182 Pinot Noir is a special selection of the best parcels from the eight different clones currently producing on TWR's home vineyard. Year after year as the vines mature, TWR are seeing an increasing depth and complexity in the wines and they have chosen to showcase that with their SV Pinot Noir.

Toru is a delicious, co-fermented 'field blend' of three varieties - Gewürztraminer, Riesling and Pinot Gris. Toru has an intriguing nose with notes of mango, fresh citrus, white florals and exotic spices. These lead into a multi-layered palate with flavours of mango, citrus, red apple and lychee with a lingering spiciness. The palate has excellent fruit concentration and weight with lovely creamy texture, plus a mineral edge which gives it great length of flavour.

The sun-drenched Terrace Edge descends sharply to the Waipara River, creating an exceptional place for growing organic grapes. Terrace Edge truly believe that premium wine is first hand-crafted in the vineyard. The beautiful, concentrated fruit is then transformed into artisan wines through gentle, traditional winemaking. Central Otago is home to New Zealand's largest high country sheep stations. The original shepherds who worked these stations have moved on, yet their spirit remains. The Last Shepherd celebrate these men with this Central Otago Pinot Noir. Medium ruby red, exhibiting vibrant dark berry aromas with hints of spice and smoke. The palate is rich and savoury with dark cherry and plum fruit characters with fine supple tannins, hints of pepper and spice and a savoury oak finish.

A bold Hawke's Bay Syrah - Floral aromas such as lilac, violet with lifted dark berry notes appear on the nose. On the palate, flavours of boysenberry and plum with well-integrated oak influence come through. With medium weight on the palate, this wine has a hint of pepper and warm spices, rounded out with a soft and velvety finish. With its delicate flavours, this wine pairs wonderfully with grilled meats and vegetables, particularly lamb and eggplant.

Blending the Maude Pinot Noir is one of their favourite and most important tasks. Each year, the magical blend from the Poison Creek and Mohawk Hill vineyards changes. Maintaining the pedigree of the Maude Pinot Noir is absolutely critical; but achieving this requires flexibility with both the blend as well as the technique as both vary with each vintage.
