This Shiraz honours the vision of pioneer Clare Valley winemaker Jim Barry and his wife Nancy. In 1964, Jim and Nancy purchased 70 acres of prime land from Duncan McRae Wood and planted their first vineyard with Shiraz. It was an inspired choice of both grape variety and location. Vibrant aroma of lifted violets, red currant, and perfectly ripe back plum, combine with well-integrated spice and a hint of very smart oak hidden in the background. The palate has commanding fruit with a density that stands to attention. Effortless flow throughout with flavours of ripe plum and purple fruits and layered fine tannin. Great intensity with a drive that will last for days.

Lifted spice and ripe mulberry/blackberry aromas are complemented with chocolate, cedar and cinnamon on the nose. Well-integrated oak tannin provides flavours of clove and supple texture, which supports the rich plum, blackberry and mocha. The overall structure is supple and generous with fine-grained tannin and a lingering finish.

A palate of rich berries with subtle notes of black pepper and spice. Superbly balanced with silky tannins and great length of oak.

A medium bodied Merlot with rich fruit and supple tannins, with a nice touch of mocha and underlying spicy, toasty oak.

Plush red fruits followed by fine, silky tannins. A concentrated and fruit forward style of Central Otago Pinot Noir. Definitive of the Pisa subregion with plush red fruits, black doris plum, bright acidity and a supple yet structured tannin profile. Drinking well now but with the ability to age in bottle.

In 1842 a 32-year-old Blacksmith, Christian Auricht, arrived from Prussia with his wife and four children. He settled in the new village of Langmeil and established a forge in what was to become a thriving trading post. His original smithy remains to this day and is a feature of the winery's heritage setting.

The Fifth Wave is Langmeil's most treasured Old Vine Garden Grenache and is dedicated to the fifth generation of the Lindner family. The vineyard was planted in 1973 and serves as a call to arms to preserve, promote and protect the best of the Barossa as well as an oft-overlooked variety.

Johann Menge was South Australia's first Geologist and was struck by Barossa's potential for viticulture. Menge wrote to George Fife Angas, describing the region as 'the cream, the whole cream and nothing but the cream'. His description convinced Pastor Kavel to make Barossa his flock's new home.

Speaking a local dialect known as 'Barossa-Deutsch', a blend of German and English that embodies the history of the district, one of Langmeil's growers, the late Wally Krieg, didn't curse, just as his forebears didn't, but in the heat of the vintage was often heard to mutter "Hangin' Snakes!"

Jackaman's vineyard is home to Langmeil's finest and rarest Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in the 1960s during the Cabernet revolution in the Barossa. This vineyard was lovingly tended by the colourful Barossan Arthur Jackaman, a World War II paratrooper, boxer and butcher who in retirement passed his small plot into Langmeil's care.

This wine is a tribute to patience and persistence while celebrating Shiraz's pedigree as a classic grape variety. Shiraz's Lineage dates to Roman times, but the Barossa's journey with Shiraz began in the 1840s. Professor Johannes Menge advised the Prussian migrants with incisive foresight that viticulture had great potential to thrive in 'New Silesia'.

Leefield Station is a range of wines that celebrate the history of the iconic sheep and beef station located in the heart of the Waihopai Valley. Purchased in 2013 by Marisco Vineyards, the property inspired us to go back to the beginning with our winemaking approach.
